1460513 2019-05-05 02:49:00 .....When the chain on my bicycle broke:(

Not quite, on a very busy cycleway path on the Marine Parade here at 10am on a beautiful sunny Saturday morning, I sounded my bell to pass someone who then turned ar ran straight into my bike.i have just got home from a trip in an ambulance and a night in the acute assessment unit because I fractured the ball and the socket in my right shoulder. Extremely painful and have Morphine to help me. 8 weeks to fix they tell me. As I have to type single finger using my stroke affected left arm, this has taken 30 minutes to type.i was only doing around 5-10KPH at the time.:( it was th way I landed the did the damage.

I cannot growl as the young man was from the local IHC place and my problems are miniscule compared to his. His carer was pretty upset though.

Ho hum, such is life.

1460514 2019-05-05 03:45:00 Ouch!

I do find the bell or calling out to be a hit and miss exercise, it often startles people who dodge in the wrong direction so I've learnt to give them a wide berth.
But then it's generally groups of pedestrians taking up the whole path I have problems with and I tend to just use the grass and go around.

Hmmm. COuld you not turn?

I see bikes a lot here, I guess it helps that Napier is so flat.

Try to keep the morphine to absolutely need only, not every x hours.Otherwise you'll get a tolerance.

1460516 2019-05-05 06:40:00 He was 2 paces away from me, and a bit irrational as his carer admitted he was unable to control him. Believe me, were it possible, I would have done just as you suggested.

1460517 2019-05-05 07:05:00 Well Ken, on the bright side you don't have to go to work now that you are retired. My commiserations though, you must be feeling very sore. Bryan (147)
1460518 2019-05-05 07:53:00 That is the speed I was riding at years ago when I broke my elbow. Been good ever since but 6 weeks of pain to get it fixed and 2 screws to hold the socket together. gary67 (56)
