| 1459811 | 2019-04-07 22:42:00 | Can anyone recommend a ship tracking program or app. I have a friend heading off into the blue on a yacht & would like to track his progress. A free one would be good if there is one. |

| 1459812 | 2019-04-07 22:53:00 | I use enautical.co.nz/ship-tracking/. This gives me live information about ship position and ship details, and is free. If your friend wishes to be tracked, presumably he has to have some sort of transponder on board to report position. | Richard (739) | ||

| 1459814 | 2019-04-07 23:17:00 | My son has a emergency location beacon and we see where he goes in the bush. He can text and we can reply. Quite funny as a couple of weeks ago I said to him, "saw you lost your way and had to double back" No secrets!! :) Ken Ken |

| 1459815 | 2019-04-08 01:11:00 | Ok I tried enautical.co.nz & picked them up in Cook Straight. Strangely enough, I then went back to marinetraffic.com & it now showed them at the same position. The two programs look very similar & may well be from the same stable. |

If he only has a terrestrial system then its normally only any good within sight of land, and if he has Satellite then its going to cost. 9537 |

Ken I don't have one but our Search and Rescue group here is looking into it as its cheaper than the alternative SAR track radios that bigger groups use. We are way to small a group less than 10 members. |
