2011-02-10 02:53:00 | I need some advise, don’t really understand what I’ve got installed. Yesterday Java reminder come up, thought was just an update, glanced breathily and clicked install. Then it came up “Installing 1.6.0-23”, I did cancel but nothing happened, it continued and finished “setup progess”. When I next reboot it will Install. I don’t understand why, as looking at my add ons I already (gulp) have 2 copies. Why would it not recognise those and not just be an update. Under “All add-ons” (all Enabled) Java Plug-in 1.6.3-23 version 1.60.23 file date 12/11/2010 Java Plug-in 1.6.3-23 version 1.60.23 file date 12/11/2010 Java(tm) Plug-In 2 SSV Helper 6.1.150.3 file date 25/7/2009 Currently Loaded Java(tm) Plug-In 2 SSV Helper 6.0.150.3 file date 25/7/2009 Run without permission (all are Enabled, all have File date 12/11/10 same time) Deployment Toolkit version 6.0.230.5 Java plug-in 1.6.0_23 6.0.230.5 Java plug-in 1.6.0_23 6.0.230.5 Java plug-in 1.6.0_23 1.6.0.23 Java plug-in 1.6.0_23 1.6.0.23 isInstalled Class 6.0.230.5 Downloaded Controls (All enabled, file date 12/11/2010 Java plug-in 1.6.0_23 1.6.0.23 Java plug-in 1.6.0_23 1.6.0.23 Java plug-in 1.6.0_23 1.6.0.23 Seems to be lots of duplicates. Should I let the other install (not that I know how to stop it), then delete some of them, which ones

2011-02-10 04:04:00 | Under "Uninstall or change programs theres only 1. Java (TM) 6 Update 23 installed 16/9/09 (it says its version 6.0-23 b05 Updates is ticked, says it last ran 8 Feb 2011. So no idea what all those bits are under Add ons

2011-02-10 04:08:00 | I wouldnt worry about it, if theres only 1 version installed. Theyre probably older versions | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2011-02-10 04:35:00 | I'm glad I read this thread cos I checked Add/Remove Programs and no Java. I went to the website and clicked Verify Version just to make sure and Java definitely not on my computer. It used to be so I don't know what happened. I've installed Java 6 update 23. Thanks Speedy. | bellbird (6169) | |

2011-02-10 06:36:00 | Yes thank you Speedy I used to see your advice HJT users to uninstall older versions of Java and often wondered about my own situation, as I got many updates and wasn't too sure if the old versions were discarded. But it was good, and even better I now how it works thanks again. | PPp (9511) | |
