1136355 2010-09-11 02:05:00 Hey,
I have a 4th gen iPod Touch and have been wondering what the cheapest way to get a 3G data connection converted into a wifi hotspot for it would be. Apparently Windows Mobile 6.5 phones can do it with an app, and Android 2.2 adds wifi tethering.
Did anyone know of any ways to get it for less than $330? I just want it for light usage, to be able to surf and IM while in town/at friends' without wifi.
Thanks.

1136356 2010-09-11 02:12:00 I didn't think the 4th Gen iPod Touch was out yet? And iPod touches don't have 3G??? xyz823 (13649)

And it doesn't have 3G, that's the whole point. I'm looking for the best device that has 3G and can share it wirelessly with the iPod.

I knew it was announced, just didn't know it had been RELEASED. Anyway, why don't you just buy an iPhone?

Might end up costing you about the same if you sell you iPod.

1136359 2010-09-11 02:43:00 you cant share a 3g connection with an ipod touch.

1136360 2010-09-11 02:54:00 iPhone 4 is $1,280. iPod Touch is $490, or rather $180 cause I sold my old one.

You can so share a 3G connection with your iPod Touch: support.wmwifirouter.com
"Clients (devices that connect to the device running WMWifiRouter)
Reported to work:
*iPod Touch"

I was hoping that someone knew a cheaper solution than buying a Windows Mobile phone.

And iPad completely screws the point, I'd just go buy a laptop or Samsung Galaxy Tab when it's released.

1136363 2010-09-11 04:07:00 I guess you could use connectify so share wifi with laptop or wireless enabled PC but then whats the point of the touch... The Error Guy (14052)
1136364 2010-09-11 07:43:00 Thanks everyone, looks like it's just most cost-effective to buy a 3G Windows Mobile or Android 2.2 that supports wireless tethering, which is cheaper than both Mifi and the Vodafone hotspot.

Thanks anyway. And Connectify not only moots the point, but also only works on 7.
