1177520 2011-02-15 05:45:00 A faulty motherboard or PSU could kill off RAM... Agent_24 (57)

1177522 2011-02-15 09:38:00 Don't forget what Speedy said about a BIOS update either, might be worth looking into too. Agent_24 (57)
1177523 2011-02-16 06:56:00 i just removed one of the sticks and ran memtest again and got no problems (i let it run through twice each time i tried memtest) so i replaced the stick and removed the other one, then ran memtest again which didn't find any issues so i put that stick back and ran memtest again with both of them installed, i let it run for an hour (same as last time) but this time i didn't find one issue even though i have changed nothing :groan: smithinator (15240)
1177524 2011-02-16 07:04:00 A board I had with an outdated BIOS would recognize my new CPU sometimes but other times it wouldn't even POST.

Logically it should have never worked so I don't know why it worked sometimes and not others. A BIOS update solved all the issues.

If this were my PC I'd flash the latest BIOS, enable XMP in the BIOS and change the frequency\voltage if it still wasn't right, then run Memtest several times over several days to see how stable it was... Also try to install Windows or whatever you were doing and see if it BSOD at all.

I also had a RAM issue on my laptop, BSOD constantly but memtest said the RAM was perfectly fine.

Replaced the RAM, no more BSOD... Moral of the story - I have experience that says memtest can sometimes be wrong!
