| 1177589 | 2011-02-13 01:05:00 | swapped pwer supply, still the same. Getting rid of viruses etc would'nt do this would it? No a virus wont stop it from booting,it may only go so far if windows files are corrupted. A PC will boot into the BIOS without a HDD. From what you mentioned so far - it's sounding like a motherboard problem. When it was going, did is just suddenly shut down, or was it off, and then not start ? |

| 1177590 | 2011-02-13 01:09:00 | it was in the middle of a scan and it completely froze for like 30 mins,so I had to flick the switch at the wall, turned it back on and nothing. | sk69ersnz (13476) | ||
| 1177591 | 2011-02-13 02:04:00 | Check the BIOS battery isn't flat, it can cause problems if it is... But it sounds like something has failed. You could try what worked for me once on a PC that wouldn't start at all, disassemble and reassemble the entire thing. |

Trust me ;) That sort of failure can happen to anyone at anytime. Not to good when you are cleaning out a PC and then have to call the customer to say they have faulty hardware as well ----- Sometimes through, they turn around and say something like ----- OH yeah, its been doing all sorts of weird shutdowns or < Insert fault> Hmmmmm and you forgot to tell me this beforehand :groan: Gee ta ! |
