Right click My Computer/ properties/Hardware Tab/ Device manager, expand out the + on network Adapters -- Post back exactly whats there, how many and what they actually say.

Also, on the Local Area Connections, right click them, Properties/ Select TCP/IP - what are the setting selected.

This hasn't got wireless as well has it ?

One other thing that comes to mind -- This PC doesn't have a Ethernet card as well as onboard does it ? The onboard will be in the area of the USB ports, where as a card will be down lower in the PCI slots.

1177082 2011-02-11 22:46:00 So heres an update .

I discovered it does have 2 enthernet ports . . . . . my bad, one of them was hiding .

I still have the issue of the internet not working however .

All the lights are going except the www internet one, we phoned slingshot who said to re enter the username and password in the modem but still no progress .

We have filters and have tried it on another computer with no sucess .

Any ideas?

1177083 2011-02-11 22:57:00 Did they say broadband was live, or connected? It doesnt sound like it is. And where in NZ are you? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1177084 2011-02-11 23:22:00 Try connecting your ethernet cable to Lan connection 1, or turning one of the ethernet ports off (mobo one? in BIOS?) or removing the network card (other one). feersumendjinn (64)
1177085 2011-02-12 00:33:00 In Taranakai .

They said it was all jacked up and should be ready to go .

I have connected it to Lan 1 and it says it connected - but still no internet access .

1177087 2011-02-12 02:17:00 How long ago did you organise the broadband connection with Slingshot, it may not have been turned on at the telephone exchange yet, can take a few days.

All the lights apart from the internet one are flashing, does this mean its a Slingshot/phone connection issue?
Have you had an email or letter from them confirming your connection is live?

1177088 2011-02-12 05:11:00 The router could be dead or incorrectly configured, otherwise Slingshot haven't set your connection up properly. stormdragon (6013)
