Just what I needed to see...
gagging to write the letter though :D

Looks like only Voda offers non VoIP phone here in the sticks...
We are early benefactors of the govts bb initiative this year.
Presumably with bandwidth and ping to burn

1177051 2011-02-15 00:03:00 You'd have to switch to a specific ISP to take advantage of the new Govt "UFB" rollout, and the cost-effectiveness right now, it's just not worth it. That said, anything has to be better than what you're getting right now.

Plans with Telecom:
www.telecom.co.nz
$115 (Outside of Aucks) for 40GB, including phone line

Uber Group Fibre - One of the two or three ISP's in Wanganui offering Fibre:
www.ubergroup.co.nz
$115 for 35GB, no phone line (Internet only)

1177052 2011-02-15 00:55:00 Thanks for the links. The District Council is working on a BB initiative for the whole town. They have trialled a wireless hub. Sooner the better.

1177053 2011-02-15 01:10:00 Yeah Uber Group Fibre offer Wireless also. Still not too cost-effective.

Hold out if you're going to switch, wait for better plans / pricing, or switch to somebody else in the interim such as Xtra / Orcon :)
