1176772 2011-02-10 08:04:00 I'm wanting to buy a new PC for gaming but I don't like brands. I want one thats custom made.

I've only found Trademe and Playtech that sells such systems.
Would anyone know where it sells such Pc systems

Thinking of spending about $1300MAX

1.I want to find a PC that has a good looking case nothing like a black thing sitting at my desk.

2.I think Playtech is a bit overpriced and I heard AMD is slightly slower than Intel?Does it make much difference?

3.Was looking at www.trademe.co.nz but not really familiar with Geforce cards. I was thinking of an ATI 6850. Nothing too high end . Nothing in the middle. Somewhere maybe in the lower top end.

4.I suppose all the nowadays have a relatively quiet fan?

Any helpful suggestions would be nice
Thanks

1176774 2011-02-10 08:20:00 good specs for some of it, but I can assure you - the PSU will be underpowered, and the motherboard will be an ultra crap one, etc etc.

Go for computerlounge.co.nz or playtech and they'll build you one within that budget.

oh and edit - the warranty is **** too. Most parts alone have a 3-5 year warranty. And I believe computerlounge gives you 3 years too, if you get them to build it and overclock it for you.

1176775 2011-02-10 08:50:00 I recently had a computer built by ComputerLounge including Windows 7 -64bit and Cool Master case for about $1300. I installed the graphics card and TV card separately at a later date. No problems, done within days. Bobh (5192)

CPU speed: 12 GHz
: Raidmax Top Quality solid full ATX tower case, Acbel 510W Power Supply.
::: Warranty :::
:Hardware came with at least 1 yr RTB warranty.

1)The CPU is NOT 12Ghz. He's an idiot.
2)PSU matters. Stick to quality, Corsair, Enermax etc.
3)1 yr warranty?? The usual ripoff. When you buy parts and build your own (or the shop does) it has manufacturers warranty.
Then again, he doesn't list brands of the parts other than a couple of things.
For instance, Intel or AMD - the CPU will be 3 years.
Asus or Gigabyte motherboards and Graphics - also 3 years.
RAM - depends, Kingston - 3 years I think from memory, or was it 5?
Corsair - 10 years.

Corsair PSU - 3 years.
Enermax PSU - 3 years.

Etc.

Computer Lounge have a good reputation for after sales service. After all, why spend all that money and then have issues if something goes wrong after you have bought it?

1176777 2011-02-10 19:27:00 Playtech or Computerlounge would be my choices. At the top end, AMD currently have nothing that can keep up with Intel's i7/Extreme series, but to be honest in the budget/mid-range segment you'll be looking at, it's more about the best to fit your budget - which brings both Intel & AMD squarely into consideration.

For that price, I'd look at something based around the Phenom II x4 or Core i5 series CPUs.

1176778 2011-02-10 20:34:00 Computerlounge seem to have a good reputation round here, been meaning to try them myself.
I also like Paradigm PCs (pp.co.nz) and PBtech - the last one because they have a local shop I can go into in Hamilton.
Some will make recommendations for you to a budget, and almost any PC supplier will build to order if you specify the parts you want.
