1178327 2011-02-14 20:37:00 I have a machine here running Win 7 64bit 4Gb RAM and IE9 beta which has been running faultlessly since installation. I have downloaded the correct IE9 RC version from several MS sites but it will still not complete installation.
MS says installation will not proceed because of the following conditions:

Method 1: Make sure that your system meets the minimum operating system requirements
Method 2: Try an alternative Internet Explorer 9 installer
Method 3: Make sure that Internet Explorer 9 prerequisites are installed
Method 4: Make sure that installation of other updates or a restart is not pending
Method 5: Temporarily disable antispyware and antivirus software
All updates are current, AV(Nod32) dissabled, new restart etc etc.
Tried uninstalling IE9 beta but that won't work either!?!
Any other installations/uninstalls are no problem except for Win7 SP1 which I have the same problem with. (I just put that one into the 'later' basket)
I really don't want to have to reinstall the OS - that would be a major!
Have also run sfc, ccleaner, checked for trojans, virus's, maleware, installing in safe mode etc etc but still no joy!!!
I only have a bit of hair left and I'm fast loosing that over this problem.
So please if there are any really clever techs out there I would really appreciate some help. Oh by the way Google has NOT been my friend in helping at all.:badpc::mad:

1178328 2011-02-14 20:50:00 To install IE9 RC you have to uninstall the Beta which you say you can't do.

Why not and what error messages do you get while trying to do it?

1178329 2011-02-14 21:08:00 The only message I get when trying to uninstall the beta is:

"An error has occurred. Not all of the updates were successfully uninstalled."

But nothing in event viewer indicates any errors either.

When installing the RC, it just stops half way & just says it can't be installed

Yes, I understood that it was possible to just upgrade, Microsoft doesn't say it's not possible but either way it just can't install on this machine.

1178332 2011-02-15 01:48:00 Did you install KB971512/971513/971514? And did you install IE9 x64?

Look in event viewer / run / eventvwr.msc. Look under windows logs / application for any errors relating to the install

1178333 2011-02-15 04:48:00 Did you install KB971512/971513/971514? - aren't these Vista updates not Win 7?
And did you install IE9 x64? - yep

Look in event viewer / run / eventvwr.msc. Look under windows logs / application for any errors relating to the install - nothing that I can find.
I do have a couple of Java errors so I might try uninstalling that later.
