1178146 2011-02-14 07:52:00 Ok i dont often come onto the dark side of pf1 i tend to stay over in the brite side of life and fun in chat.

anyway just a question or two.........
my sister txtd and emailed me saying every time she sends an email she gets a complete copy of it sent to her........... i think she is using OE tonight she rang in a tizz, on a phone i can hardly hear her on to make matters worse......

i talked to her, and her non geek son and some where along the lines he has unticked conversation something or rather and it has stopped sending the 2 emails, one to the person she picks and her.........

as i dont have win 7 on my comp im confused, as i hardly ever send emails on the win 7 at work is this a new set up and is it supposed to send a copy of the email you send?

1178147 2011-02-14 08:07:00 Just to add some confusion :D - what email program is she using ? it sounds like Windows Live Mail.

Windows 7 doesn't come with a default Email client like OE, or Windows Mail ( XP or Vista) you have to install one.

Normally when a Mail is sent to someone, there is a copy put in the Sent Items, not actually sent out and back to you.

Edited:
The conversations you mention - Expand the first option (windows.microsoft.com) as well as the rest to get details - which is shown here (www.imagef1.net.nz)

1178148 2011-02-14 08:09:00 Not really anything to do with Win7 per se except that she can't be using OE as it doesn't exist for Win7. To get help, best you find out what she is actually using to send email.

Darn, WT is too quick!!

1178149 2011-02-14 08:15:00 Yeah see i had the same confusion, cos she kept talking about OE, and that she would get an exact copy in her inbox......... i asked multiple times not sent items, but no.........

i am going to visit tomorow hopefully...... if i can wangle the time.... got work, funeral, and children to organise before a trip to play with the new fangled computer......

the son kept saying what ever prog it was had a chat option........ and thats why it kept sending the mail to her........

the son kept saying what ever prog it was had a chat option........ and thats why it kept sending the mail to her........ Maybe he means This here (www.imagef1.net.nz) - its not chat, its Live Mail. Windows live come with several programs you can install, Live Mail, Live messenger (Chat) and several others if you install Via the default settings. Custom you can pick what to install.

1178151 2011-02-14 18:58:00 Ok so is it something we have to buy on disc, or just download it from M$ place?

1178152 2011-02-14 19:12:00 No, it is free. But, before jumping the gun, find out what she is using now. If the auto return is fixed she may be quite happy with what she is using. linw (53)
1178153 2011-02-14 21:02:00 It may be that she is using an email program that watches conversations. Gmail shows both sides of a conversation in the inbox. McGinty48 (14880)
1178154 2011-02-14 21:49:00 Or you could suggest she use a web based E-mail client, As far as I know all ISP's offer them these days and it's a large part of why windows is no longer supplied with one by default.

I use webmail because I tend to check mine on multiple pc's ( work, home, game machine.. ) and it saves the hassle.

1178155 2011-02-14 23:34:00 She is not putting her own address in the cc box is she? Had an elderly friend who was doing that and wondered why he kept getting a copy of his sent messages gary67 (56)
