1177745 2011-02-13 07:30:00 So... A about a year ago, my system kinda died. Just wouldn't start. (No video output). So I gave up on it.

Right now, being in need of it, I took down to my local shop for them to replace what I thought was a dead graphics card. (Tested it thoroughly before taking it down, reseated memory & PCI cards and video card, power connectors).

As soon as I took it down, the guy connects everything up and BANG! It all worked just fine!
So I took it home, and running it for a week. It stopped working yesterday.
First it restarted a mid casual surfing, then the screen went blank it wouldn't start it just stayed like that and wouldn't start again.

Now I'm totally mystified. What the hell could it be?

No video output, hard drives all spin up, THERE ARE NO BEEPS. I have a wireless keyboard & mouse, the lights on it does (wireless connectivity, caps lock et al) come up for half a second and go away.

The power button, does only turns the system on, it will not turn it off - I have to use a switch on the back of the PSU.
I've pulled out the HDDs and DVD burner to make sure the system was getting enough power, to no avail.

Could this be an issue with the power supply?
Graphics card dead?
Faulty memory? Faulty CPU/motherboard?
Why no beeps?

IS GOD PUNISHING ME FOR MY EVIL WAYS????!

Any thoughts welcome.

1177746 2011-02-13 07:44:00 I wouldnt turn it off at the back. You'll make things worse If it can shut down from the menu, shut it down that way. Whats the videocard? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1177747 2011-02-13 07:55:00 The power button, does only turns the system on, it will not turn it off I'd say its either a motherboard fault, or the PSU - either way the PSU is not getting the signal to turn off. The fact that there are no beeps, and it does turn on, I'd be leaning towards a mother board problem. wainuitech (129)

That'd be a real bummer, I won't find a new replacement motherboard. It'll have to be a new board/cpu/memory. :(

1177749 2011-02-13 23:40:00 After careful analysis, I'm leaning towards the God hypothesis on this one. Perhaps if you cleaned up your act (BTW, I'm sure there will be a bit of interest in your evil ways - care to share?), after a year or so He might deign to allow your PC to restart. Of course it'll be well & truly obsolete by then...

Or maybe you just have to offer your unholy Nvidia card as a sacrifice & go with a more heavenly ATI one instead.

I'm an evil [not so] super villain hell bent on world domination...

Yeah... Maybe... If they had better drivers...
