1138178 2010-09-18 12:26:00 Curiosity. How many other people on this forum have received a letter from a well known Australia/NZ digest company, with the following statement - - -

"If you've never received an invitation to enter the Sweepstakes before, you need to know that in the whole of NZ, only 13 out of every 100 households have been selected to receive our upcoming offer and be confirmed as having a chance to win the Grand Prize of $450,000.................................
..............Our computer selected those from NZ who should take part, and when it came to Blenheim, not only was Blenheim represented but it picked the * * * * * household". (Mine)

There are obviously more letters coming with the LUCKY numbers in them. LOL. How many thousands of these have been sent out,I wonder? :D

1138179 2010-09-18 12:35:00 Yeah, nothing but old-fashioned snail-mail spam, with a touch of phishing...

Anything we get from them in this household goes directly into the recycling bin (minus any personally identifiable papers).

1138180 2010-09-18 13:32:00 We ALWAYS get those kinds of letters from Reader's Digest. Wish I could just punch the dumbass' face, you know, whoever thought this whole shenanigan was a bright idea. qazwsxokmijn (102)
1138181 2010-09-18 20:38:00 Even 20 years ago they were running the same crap of you have received the winning numbers and all I had to do was reply within 3 or 7 days to be then in the draw, usually the blurb would include pictures and feedback from those *lucky* enough to have been winners. 1138182 2010-09-18 20:54:00 I hate em. haven't got any this week or this year. just american express. That ended up in the fire, lovely on such a cold day. The Error Guy (14052)
1138183 2010-09-18 21:15:00 Or you can just send back a empty envelope.......or if there is no personal details already entered on the american express application, send the whole lot back....... PinoyKiw (9675)

Cool - then it costs them for the postage and they get nothing in return.

Excellent idea!

Sounds very much like the pathetic rubbish from Readers Digest. There is a NZ mail order outfit doing the same now.

1138186 2010-09-19 01:43:00 I suspect that Readers Digest were pioneers in the junk mail cesspit. They were a handy source of fire starters when we lived in a fairly remote rural area about 30 years ago. R2x1 (4628)
1138187 2010-09-19 02:36:00 I doubt the truth of it, and i never received such a letter like that. faith1806 (15972)
