| 1137568 | 2010-09-19 00:27:00 | With you there Wainuitech. I am so over the 'hate MS just because" set. It's like the Holden V's Ford lot - different strokes for different folks! Business is Business...:D Some people just love to moan because they dont like something that others do and can make $$. Life goes on. | wainuitech (129) | ||
| 1137569 | 2010-09-19 00:28:00 | So then you are prepared to condemn IE9 sihgt unseen apparently. I am not condemning it as such just that it won't run on their most popular OS. I must admit I like menus as I find them practical and they are only accessible using the Alt key combination so that part I wouldn't like. |

| 1137570 | 2010-09-19 00:32:00 | Are you trying the Web installer,or the fullpackage. I had problems at first, then go it From here (windows.microsoft.com) - English, select version vista or W7 32 or 64 bit. mine's the 19mb exe, from the person who had links to the vista and 7 version. i'll try your link |

But nobody is forcing anyone to use it or upgrade and I for one have tried other browsers like FF, Chrome etc. I dual boot Linux and Win7 for the record but only use Linux for a free compiler for other interests I have. Just like the I hate Telecom or AMD or Intel or Ford or Global warming or Muslims or Commies or National or Act or Labour or Sensible Sentencing threads we see here. Why not just let people use whatever they want so long as it is not hurting others? |

| 1137573 | 2010-09-19 00:49:00 | Hmmmmm - so rubbishing a Browser and it cant be used on Linux -- funny that, not every company makes software that will run on all OS's. Go back to the post that you plucked that from and read it again as I wasn't rubbishing it because it wouldn't run on Linux just answering a question put to me. As per the comment about MS making money -- Strange, but last time I looked if a company didn't make money then you wont have a company for long. Just because MS are huge they are a target for all the wingers. I bet if the place you work for, unless self employed of course, and that would still count, didn't make money, you would be out of a job. It is always trying to force the upgrade that annoys me not that they make money. There are places that screw customers one hell of a lot more than MS does. MS gives away millions to charity's and needy places every year - does the place you work for do that ? I understood it was the Gates foundation that was full of generosity. If MS are giving away so much to charity how do you think they can do that; and this goes for all businesses that give to charity; they can only do it because they charge the customer more than they need to to run the business as it is really the customer giving that money to charity. There are still plenty of sites that wont work correctly on anything But IE. I hit one the other day, tried FF, Chrome no go, only IE would work. I must admit it has been a very long time since I have struck one and they don't deserve my business if they do that. |

I must admit it has been a very long time since I have struck one and they don't deserve my business if they do that. Right I did re read it -- the question was: Originally Posted by Snorkbox View Post So have you tried IE9 Platform preview or Beta yet? #50 and the answer from #52 No as it does not run on Linux like all the other browsers(except for Safari) and I am not interested in trying to get it to run within Wine. so going by those IE9 has not been tired, since it wont run on Linux, so apart from previous experience, IE9 has not be compared to older versions. The menu's -- can be shown by alt as mentioned or by clicking tools -Toolbars - Menu, then it shows permanently -- thats for IE8. For IE9, its a bug, theres one fix, but you can make it show by downloading This reg hack (www.sevenforums.com) - then alt, View - Toolbars - untick menu, close IE, reopen and the menu bar is now showing. Its a case of knowing the functions of software a person is using, not just using default settings ;) FYI: The Company that only works with IE --Baycorp - I was filling out a form as some Person (polite version) refused to pay for work done, and FF really spat the dummy - I called them and Baycorp said use IE as the site is not yet currently setup to work on other browsers. |
