1137422 2010-09-17 02:27:00 prefect, you should join Act (unless you are already a member?). You would fit right in - I can see you now, singing from the Ayn Rand songsheet, and firing off your shotgun from time to time to mark the end of each stanza. :devil

Anyway, what's wrong with running a campaign against masturbation? We don't want the taxpayer to have to fork out all that money to support the blind do we?

1137423 2010-09-17 02:30:00 Now that Garrett has resigned from Act, assuming he is brazen enough to stay on as an independent, what does that mean under MMP?

If he resigns from Parliament, Act gets to foist yet another plonker on us, I understand that.

But if Garrett resigns from Act, but stays on in Parliament, do Act just lose one of their MPs, or do they get to appoint another one? If the latter is the case, then presumably the taxpayer has to fork out for 121 MPs rather than 120? Is that how it works, or is it just tough cheese to Act?

I think they should choose John H,the king of plonkers!

That is how it should work but years ago when that Maori woman that had been on the dole and was a list candidate jumped ship both National and Labour had a chance to vote for the right thing which would have been for the next list candidate to move up but they chose not to and to let them remain in parliament as an independent. It should be a different story for a member voted in by an electorate. Too often parliament has not done the right thing and they get less and less respect from me.:groan:

Alamein Koopu from the Alliance? I seem to remember there was some legislation passed as a result of that, but I can't remember the details.
