1137538 2010-09-17 22:19:00 Good chance for all those XP users to jump ship to Chrome, Firefox, Opera or Safari (In order of preference) ;) Chilling_Silence (9)
1137539 2010-09-17 23:26:00 WHY doesn't it run on XP? Not a Querulous Question! Other than MS not wanting it to? PJ

Apparently it's because XP doesn't support the 3D acceleration used for the new features.

However, since I know that Firefox 4 at least supports the same new features, and it runs on XP, I think Microsoft is just lying.

I am sure they could make IE9 run on XP just fine. Maybe they would have to rewrite it so it didn't depend on DX11 or something but I'm sure it would be possible.

1137544 2010-09-18 05:01:00 It is interesting that Firefox etc. will run on just about anything but because of MS playing there old tricks of trying to get everyone to upgrade IE won't even run on their most popular OS. Why people keep persevering with them I don't know.
Actually its about time MS started doing this, stop supporting the old. If you want the latest upgrade. Look what happened when MS tried to please everyone, you got vista. And now their are slowing cutting away old stuff, you got 7, a great improvement.

Very true plod, how many people would be happy driving around in a Ford Model T these days or watching Black & White TV or even using a push mower on their quarter acre section! -even though they were good products in their day.
I've been using IE9 beta on a 64 bit Win 7 machine & have had no problems whatsoever sofar. (fingers crossed) At least I can advise my customers from personal experience.

Why play the M$ game and just update because they bring out a new OS. Not every one is made of money..
