2011-02-16 05:06:00 | Hi linw, The phone is 2.4ghz and now I come to think of it-- the reason I moved to the phone nearer to the street was it was coming from a jack behind and under my double bed--far from a phone like the wireless one is now,( and which is new ) so I assume the radiation/noise is not a factor--certainly there is no noise on a phone conversation at all I have renewed all the filters, compliments Telecom when they send out a replacement router,it is complete for a virgin installation, all I should need was the router, in fact I sqirrelled the filters and replaced the lot, then sent back the old package, in a prepaid bag Telecom send out 4 days later for that purpose I certainly will NOT tolerate 8 drop offs a day believe me!--I have a paddy when I need to and guess what-!!! Actually I have lost 3 only once - most are 1 or 2---still not good enough effie c

2011-02-17 03:26:00 | Sweet so now it's dropping out every 30 mins or so AS well as when the phone is used. Don't really wanna ring Slingshot but might have to. Think I might try replacing the filter as well.

2011-02-17 06:38:00 | Have you tried a different phone from the Uniden? i had a similar issue, Uniden wireless phone, whenever it rang, the net would disconnect . at the moment its working fine, (trying to remember what i did to fix it . . . . . ) | ronyville (10611) | |
2011-02-17 07:51:00 | Have a look at this info I gleaned re S/N etc Your noise margin looks decidedly dodgy and reflects what you are experiencing (noisy phone and ADSL dropouts). My Noise Margin is 15dB/12dB and Attenuation is 4/10. And I never get any dropouts with this Telecom modem. ---------------------- Noise Margin (AKA Signal to Noise Margin or Signal to Noise Ratio) Relative strength of the DSL signal to Noise ratio. The higher the number the better for this measurement. In some instances interleaving can help raise the noise margin to an acceptable level. 6dB or below is bad and will experience no synch or intermittent synch problems 7dB-10dB is fair but does not leave much room for variances in conditions 11dB-20dB is good with little or no synch problems* (but see note below) 20dB-28dB is excellent 29dB or above is outstanding * Note that there may be short term bursts of noise that may drop the margin, but due to the sampling time of the management utility in your modem, will not show up in the figures. Line Attenuation Measure of how much the signal has degraded between the DSLAM and the modem. This is largely a function of the distance from the exchange. The lower the dB the better for this measurement. 20dB and below is outstanding 20dB-30dB is excellent 30dB-40dB is very good 40dB-50dB is good 50dB-60dB is poor and may experience connectivity issues 60dB or above is bad and will experience connectivity issues

2011-02-17 23:16:00 | So how exactly do I fix it? | --Wolf-- (128) | |
2011-02-17 23:32:00 | Dunno - you may just have to 'get a man in'. Unless you are capable of checking all cabling/jointing through your house. | linw (53) | |
2011-02-17 23:43:00 | If you've done the basic checks: Try with everything disconnected except for ADSL plugged directly into phone line, Try new filter on phone, try different phone and maybe borrow a different router and it's still screwed then ring up the helpdesk and get them to send a technician out. For me it's 'free' since I pay the wiring insurance. Don't know about Slingshot, and if other people's comments are anything to go by they won't want to know about the problem anyway.
