1180085 2011-02-20 23:00:00 Hi all, I have a client who just about has everything in his new house. He showed me his man cave decked out in leather suite, leather desk and cellar blah blah.
Anyway, he has a nice bi 40" LCD TV above the fireplace, and I suggested he move his deck to face the TV and we can use that for a PC Monitor as he is considering a PC down there.
I was thinking wireless mouse and keyboard to sit on nice leather deck, but am concerned with distance....
We are probably looking at around 4-5m from deck to TV screen and not sure where to put the PC, maybe a little Dell Zino box or something to the right of the fireplace, obviously we would want to hide wires....

So, question is, can we do wireless input from like 5m?, or will we need to contemplate PC under the desk and wireless video feed to the TV?

1180086 2011-02-20 23:05:00 Most of the Logitech gear will do 10m no problems. Says so on the box.

This from an Amazon review for the MK250

Wireless reach:
The wifi reach of this keyboard is amazing. And this is the precise reason why I bought it. I can type in from my dining room and still see the characters on a notepad on my laptop which is in the living room. That is: the wifi worked through 2 walls. This is amazing stuff for a budget wifi keyboard.
I then tested on my other laptop (Win 7), which is more or less used like a desktop. Works perfectly fine as well. Zero lag and precise mouse movement. 10 metre is the range mentioned in the product literature.

1180087 2011-02-20 23:08:00 Pity the Setpoint software for most of their kb's / mice is crap. It doesnt work. So, expect to have probs (if you want it to be secure) Speedy Gonzales (78)
1180088 2011-02-20 23:12:00 I've got loads of logitech gear at home and I've never had any problems with SetPoint...? wratterus (105)
1180089 2011-02-20 23:15:00 For most people the tabs for the mouse and kb dont appear (inc myself). So, you cant configure either of them. Look on their forum, you'll see what I mean. I told them it was crap / it didnt work. They removed setpoint from the download for this kb lol Speedy Gonzales (78)
1180090 2011-02-20 23:52:00 You can get some Logitech stuff with receivers that plug into usb on a cord rather than a dongle.

You could then move it around as you needed.

1180091 2011-02-21 00:04:00 Dont think it'll matter if its on a cord or not. The keyboards worked fine without a cord. I'm right next to the dongle . Setpoint was the prob, it doesnt work. Thats what I did with this USB tuner. Connected it to a cord, so I can use the remote (wihout having to sit at the desk to use it) Speedy Gonzales (78)
1180092 2011-02-21 00:29:00 I have had my problems with setpoint but the latest version seems to run well.
I am using a G9 mouse, g510 keyboard and a Clearchat PC wireless headset.

1180093 2011-02-21 00:45:00 Bluetooth stuff should work at that range? The Mac Keyboard + Mouse perhaps? They're nice! Chilling_Silence (9)
1180094 2011-02-21 02:24:00 So whats better guys, bluetooth 2.0 or wireless....I didnt think they could do 10m to be honest! SolMiester (139)
