2011-02-18 03:03:00 | How do I save an address in Word 2010 so that when I type the first few letters and press "enter" the full name and address will auto complete please | dianne pierce (13385) | |
2011-02-18 03:39:00 | Dianne Not sure that Word 2010 will "auto complete" now, but if you type the text you want and highlight it, click the Insert tab, click Quick Parts in the text panel and save your selection to the Quick Parts Gallery it will be saved there for future use. To use it place your IP mark where you want the text, and insert it from the gallery. JonB

2011-02-18 04:37:00 | Hi, you can try using AutoCorrect . The easiest way is to type out the full address first (formatting and all), then select the whole address (multiple lines is fine) . Then go to File / Options / Proofing / AutoCorrect Options . . . and you should see that the text you selected is already showing as a new AutoCorrect line at the top of the list . Now all you need to do is add the short text (e . g . , address1) you want to type in to get the full address, then choose Add . cheers W

2011-02-18 10:19:00 | Nah didn't solve that problem. Now I have another problem regarding the above which was working as I said but now it has decided not to "autocomplete" by pressing enter after I type the first few letters of the address entered in quickparts - any clues as to why? ha ha | dianne pierce (13385) | |
2011-02-18 18:03:00 | autotext in 2010; see here (www.groovypost.com), that should work.

2011-02-19 08:31:00 | I followed the above instructions to the letter "T" but still no go. The only difference I can see is when I get to the screen "create a new building block" and it gives two options where to save. According to the pictures in the instructions I should be able to choose save in "Normal.dotm" whereas my options are only save in "Normal" or "Building Blocks". I cannot alter where it says "Normal" to read Normal.dotm. Is there soemthing else missing. The entry will save but it will not allow me to access it by pressing "enter" only by phusically clicking "Insert" and then "Quick parts" then the address then it will appear in my document. Is there soemthing else I can try please | dianne pierce (13385) | |
