2011-02-17 09:02:00 | Hi folks, Apologies if this kind of question gets tossed around here a lot, I had a look through previous posts but couldn't find a lot of recent info about Kinect especially so I thought I'd post and ask straight up. I'm with Telstra at the moment and while I do like the product I've got from them, I can get 15gb more a month from both Telecom and Kinect for basically the same price I am paying Telstra, and with money being tight and me having to really keep an eye on my bandwidth and limit what I do (I watch streaming NHL games and I'm being forced to just litsen to radio broadcasts instead because I'm to close to my bandwidth cap), so I feel it is time for a change. It's not to hard to find info about Telecoms internet, it seems to be alright but it's a little harder finding up to date reviews about what Trustpowers Kinect internet is like. The reason I'm considering them is because I've also got my Power with them, so if I could get Phone, Power and Internet with them it would be tidy, and I think they offer a small discount if you have all of them (3% or something), but I'm not willing to risk my internet with them if it's not a very good product. I'm way down in Gore in Southland if that has any bearing on it. Thanks very much for reading my post folks, any opinions are greatly welcomed! Cheers, Alan

2011-02-17 19:00:00 | Well Trustpower have fairly good customer service. At least for power, don't know what their tech staff are like. At present there's some special deal going if you get phone, internet and power with them and are a Southland Times subscriber. Google it. Their call centre is in Oamaru. Currently they re-sell Maxnet but that will be changing soon.

When we compared them it was going to cost us more on the power side but about the same for BB | gary67 (56) | ||
2011-02-17 19:28:00 | I've got a few clients on Kinect, the once or twice I've had to call them they've been quick and knowledgeable. Speeds seem pretty consistent too from what I've seen. | wratterus (105) | |
2011-02-17 20:48:00 | At present there's some special deal going if you get phone, internet and power with them and are a Southland Times subscriber. Google it. The offer for Southland Times customers is till 31 Mar 11. It appears that TrustPower are trying to lure me from Contact Energy. They offer a 15% on-time payment as apposed to Contact's 10% discount. The carrot is: $50 power credit off your first power bill $50 power credit of your May 2011 power bill $50 credit off Kinect toll calls The glossy pamplet included gives an example of $87 for landline plus 6 GB per month broadband or $73 for landline plus 2 GB per month broadband. I'm currently with Actrix for broadband (10 GB) and Telecom for landline total $89.32 per month. If I changed to Kinect for landline and broadband (6 GB) I would save a massive $2.32 per month (that is if Kinect's prices include GST). In the Consumer report on broadband, Actrix are at the top for customer service and reliability. Kinect are average. I am not in a hurry to change from Actrix to Kinect. I am considering changing from Contact Energy to TrustPower for power supply. Contact Energy have countered TrustPowers offer by giving double fly buys to customers who stay with Contact for the next six months. Big deal.

2011-02-17 21:53:00 | Ive been with Telstra and Telecom and they dont compare with Kinect for price or service. Having been with Kinect since they first started I mark them 10/10. I dont get any Spam, (I dont know how they do that) and as Gary said they roll over any data you have left, so if you dont use it, you dont loose it. Their Power and Telephone deals are sharp too with decent discounts for prompt payment. Im sure you cant get a better deal anywhere else, but must confess I havent been looking. :D

2011-02-17 22:20:00 | Trustpower lost 5000 customers in the last 12 months I would look at the price comparisons very carefully www.stuff.co.nz

2011-02-17 23:36:00 | Go with Kinect! Dad changed to Kinect from Telstraclear because we were getting ripped off (So much for being a customer since the days of Zfree). We have full speed up and down and Unlimited which means NO DATA CAP!! the Speeds are very impressive, and we have never looked back.
