1179207 2011-02-17 07:18:00 Hi all,

I am building a new PC for a client who is on Paradise dial-up and use Outlook Express.

I have transferred all their DBX files and imported them into the new PC. I exported an IAF file (from the old PC) and imported it (to the new one) from the Accounts dialog.

Problem is - they can't send any email out. Emails come in OK but their ones just sit in the outbox. Error is "The connection to the server has failed, Account: paradise', Server smtp.paradise.net.nz', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number 0x800CCC0E"

Currently they haven't got their PC back as I need to make sure it will work when they get it back! I can ping the SMTP server and do an nslookup on it. The same thing happens when I try and put the SMTP servers IP in the SMTP server field in OE.

I am on Telecom if that makes any difference.

:thanks

1179208 2011-02-17 07:27:00 Some isps block outgoing emails. It wont work, unless youre on paradise as well. Or the account you've added is a telecom email account. It'll probably work, once they take it back home. And hook it back up to paradise Speedy Gonzales (78)
1179209 2011-02-17 07:30:00 You'll need to be connected via Paradise/TelstraClear in order to use the paradise SMTp server. Connecting via Telecom Broadband won't work. inphinity (7274)
1179210 2011-02-17 07:32:00 If your connection is with Telecom you can't send through paradise SMTP. It should work at the owners place ok with the current settings Safari (3993)
1179211 2011-02-17 07:35:00 Just a bit of a warning / Heads up, Paradise Dial up very shortly will be discontinued.

A few days ago I was talking to Telstra and was told:

Telstra are in the process of shutting down all Paradise Dial up accounts, the account owners will get a letter in the snail mail and if the person still wants the dial up account they have to contact Telstra and create a new one.

Edit: thanks for the heads-up WT, will pass it on. They're thinking of upgrading to broadband soon anyways.

This is not something that should require thought or consideration :P
