1138587 2010-09-21 00:06:00 replacement charger for my laptop is stuffed :(

looks as though the wire is broken coming out of the charger to the bit that connects into the laptop. you can feel that the wire/s broken.

only 3 months old as well

1138588 2010-09-21 01:03:00 Chop off the old plug and attach a new one?

And then stop bending the wire so much, or whatever you're doing to it, it should last a lot longer than 3 months.

The battery should last you a couple of hours at least, dont use the charger so much!

1138592 2010-09-21 01:56:00 Just treat it more carefully I guess is all you can do.

But they are usually easy to fix. If the plug is broken, cut it off and solder on a new one.

If the wire is broken at the charger end, open the charger (this is where hopefully your charger has screws to open it with) and cut the damaged wire off, and resolder to the PCB.

Keep doing this until you run out of wire, then buy some more wire. Desolder your old plug from the old wire, solder it to the new wire, and solder the new cord to the charger again.

Repeat Ad nauseam.

I've got a shovel like that - had it 30 years .

It's had 6 new handles and 4 new heads . . . :)

But you're not replacing the entire charger, just the cord and plug .

1138596 2010-09-21 02:36:00 its the part that is permanently attached to the charger itself that is broken, not the plug with the 3 prongs on it GameJunkie (72)
