1180149 2011-02-21 23:14:00 It sounds like a tuner not a videocard. The entry for it, will be under the sound entry, not under the video card entry Speedy Gonzales (78)
1180150 2011-02-22 02:19:00 right click my computer, choose manage, click device manager, look under sound video and game devices, there should be an obvious tv tuner device there, actually for winfast there will be multiple devices ( tuner, video capture, etc)

If it has an exclamtion point try unsinstalling and reinstalling the driver, if it's missing you may have a hardware problem.

You could also try shutting down, removing the card, booting up without it, shuttting down, reinstalling, reboot, should detect and reinstall if not run the setup disk for it.

A long time since I abandoned my winfast card but I remember having to do this once

1180151 2011-02-22 02:56:00 If the EEprom, is corrupt, it needs to be reflashed. Removing the card / reinstalling the drivers wont help Speedy Gonzales (78)
1180152 2011-02-22 22:34:00 absolutely, but it may not be the eeprom so no harm in trying. dugimodo (138)

right, finally dug deeper and following your instructions I found all sound video & game devices say they are working fine & no exclamation marks found anywhere. So I guess next step is reflashing the EEprom...

If the EEprom, is corrupt, it needs to be reflashed. Removing the card / reinstalling the drivers wont help

Where do I look to find the EEprom I need to reflash?

whats involved with a reflash exactly?

thanks!

1180154 2011-03-01 08:59:00 Is it the leadtek deluxe tuner?? If its the Expert, I dont know if this file will work. I know this file works with the deluxe, I've used it more than once

I've got the files here. You CAN'T run it within windows. You have to copy it to a bootable floppy (or a USB flash drive - if your system supports booting from flash drives). The Eeprom is on the tuner itself (its a chip)

I can only find reference to 'Winfast pvr2000 (x86) version 3.0.9.0' and none whether it is deluxe or expert version.

where would I find this info?

Thanks for your patience

1180156 2011-03-01 09:36:00 What does it say under device manager under sounds?? This (I think) is where the info for the tuner will be Speedy Gonzales (78)
1180157 2011-03-01 10:04:00 I could have a look with teamviewer sometime. If this thing doesnt work, it may kill it Speedy Gonzales (78)

attached is a pic of the sound options under device manager, can't see the winfast version anywhere?

Think I'll have to take you up on your kind teamviewer offer, as this is getting over my head fast. I really appreciate your help speedy, will PM to arrange this & compensation with you (perhaps you could also check the drivers or whatever else is causing my BSOD if thats not too much trouble at the same time??)

If nothing else works, then as a last resort I'm not too fussed if the EEprom reflashing kills the winfast PVR, as it dosn't work now so we have nothing to loose should it get killed off attempting to fix it.
