1180139 2011-02-21 00:20:00 Hi guys,

I'm having trouble with my Winfast PVR, as it brings up this message on start up: "cannot find any video capture card"

I've tried google, with no help - all the results mentioned new installs only.

I haven't made any changes of anything to the PC, so this seems out of the blue. Altho in saying that we did take the pc to a technician to repair BSOD errors a few months ago & he said he 'cleaned up unnecessary files etc'. I think I used the PVR fine after he did this, just thought I'd mention it as background info.

Anyone know how I enable the video card to get the PVR going again?

Appreciate any advice & help

1180141 2011-02-21 00:56:00 Its not a Leadtek deluxe tuner is it? Because. these things were known to corrupt the EEPROM chip that's on it. When this happens, sometimes when you rebooted, it would ask for the drivers. And no matter what you tried, the drivers wouldnt install properly. Is this happening? If it is, Ive got a file to reprogram the chip. But you have to boot into DOS to use it Speedy Gonzales (78)

From memory I *think* I have this one: WinFast TV2000 XP Expert, (will check when I get home).

Had seen mention online of unsoldering a resistor, changing a setting, then resoldering it back as one way of solving this issue... surely the file method you mention is a far better solution?

Checked Devices?

Reinstall Winfast :)

Right, so I go to control panel then where to check device?

1180145 2011-02-21 01:59:00 Device manager under its entry. Never tried the soldering bit, but the file I have definitely works with the Deluxe. Dont know if it works with the Expert tho. Never tried it. It didnt have the same prob as the Deluxe tuner Speedy Gonzales (78)

1180147 2011-02-21 04:54:00 forget the soldering crap :(

download and install the Winfast update "Winfast PVR2_setup_20328.zip" :)

you may need to check to see if it is the latest version

1180148 2011-02-21 23:07:00 well checked the video card under device manager & it appears to be working fine, plus it plays mp4 files so that should tell me the problem lies with the winfast PVR & not the video card, right?

looks like I'll reinstall the drivers & see how that works out.

Thanks guys for your help :)
