I have a visitor from overseas who bought some fair bit of NZ products worth around $1,000.00. Can he get a GST refund when he leaves NZ next week? If yes, how? |

Visitors to New Zealand must pay GST on all goods and services that they buy in New Zealand. There is no refund of GST available when you leave New Zealand. |

The only exception is that some retailers are able to sell products to tourists GST-free, so long as the items are posted overseas at the time of purchase. For your friend it'll be too late. |
