| 1139636 | 2010-09-25 22:58:00 | People who reply to spam threads, do you not relize that when you do so you push there post to the top of the threads again, just what the spammers want you to do, you are playing into there hands. Why not just report it by clicking on the warning triangle at bottom left of the post. I actually get sick of coming back to the forum when some people have replyed to these posts and they are at the top of the thred again. :) |

| 1139641 | 2010-09-27 03:10:00 | Pushing the thread to the top of the page again isn't what they want - it's the fact that the webcrawlers for many search engines rank this site highly for information that is actually useful . They hope to take advantage of this fact to push their site(s) higher in the search rankings if someone is Googling for something similar . The sooner we push them off our site the better . However doing little things like repeating their email address might give them a taste of their own medicine through the very same bots that might be picking up their dodgy website . A real pity if a spammer got spammed . . . . :D (even though they are most likely throwaway email addresses, since most are either Yahoo or Hotmail addresses) The thing to avoid is QUOTING the spam post - that just makes extra work for the Mods . . . |
