| 1181431 | 2011-02-27 23:47:00 | Try a force shutdown go start/run type in "shutdown -s -f -t 05" with out quote marks and see if that works. If that works then there is a program that is hanging. | Alex B (15479) | ||
| 1181432 | 2011-02-28 16:22:00 | Try a force shutdown go start/run type in "shutdown -s -f -t 05" with out quote marks and see if that works. If that works then there is a program that is hanging. There is no program hanging the shutdown. The shutdown works fine as long as it is done from the task manager. What the issue is that the shutdown menu will NOT come up from the start menu. As soon as you click on the start menu/shutdown button the computer freezes except for the mouse and ctrl-alt-del which allows the taskmanager to come up. There should be a menu of restart/shutdown/hiberanate come up. THis doesn't. It doesn't even get to the shutdown routine so is nothing to do with the actual shutting down of the machine. Checks for viruses by various checkers have resulted in nothing found (and no not all at the same time as they conflict if installed on the same machine). System File Check returns no problems. I have been doing this for many years since the old TRS80 so it aint new to me. |
