1181095 2011-02-25 10:59:00 Yeah I've been using them. Compared to the N1, they're not bad. I got used to having no trackball pretty quickly surprisingly, and they come stock with Swype which is nice. It's just a shame it's been so difficult for the likes of CyanogenMod to get ported to them, especially with native SIP in Gingerbread becoming incredibly useful! Chilling_Silence (9)

It's dual core (not thats any grate shakes atm, untill apps can make use of dual core CPU's)

Have a look here (dicksmith.co.nz) Chill - if you want some advice on running a custom ROM, give me a yell (or you could read through 40,000 posts on XDA )

1181098 2011-05-20 12:17:00 The Defy isn't a bad phone and is supposed to be tough, although the rep told me i wasn't allowed to use it around a pool like they do on the add :P Alex B (15479)
1181099 2011-05-21 04:42:00 It just so happens I now have the i9000T. Got me one about a 3 weeks ago now, the week after MIUI became available for it.

Mean as phones. I heard somebody say "It's the best hardware with the worst software", and they were definitely right, the default firmware blows. Thankfully it's dead simple to flash MIUI on it, so I've written a blog on it:
www.c2s.co.nz

Since I've got mine, I've had 4 other mates get it too. I flashed 3 i9000's yesterday to MIUI :D

The Defy is also supported by MIUI. Looks very similar to the Galaxy S...

Best part is my wifes taken on my N1 (Which I've also flashed MIUI onto). She was like "I'll just put my SIM in it for today and maybe tomorrow" (On a saturday). It's now been about 3 weeks and she's still using it :D Wouldn't mind getting her an i9000T though.

My wife looked at the Defy the other week but didn't like Motorola's Motoblur or should it be called Motobloat . I even found this thing hard to get around . She then had a look at the SGS1 and was sold on it . Bought one for $999 from Telecom, though I see that Dick Smith are selling what looks like the Telecom version?? i900T for about $750 at the moment . You can buy a Captivate currently for about Mobicity for $749 though they did have some last week for $640 but looks like they're all gone . . Bought her a leather case on Trademe for $46 for it as she keeps it in her handbag and the last fone got a big chip in the screen while in there . .

I'm personally holding for a SGS2 when the price comes down . .

1181102 2011-05-21 11:10:00 I contemplated waiting for the SGS2, and I'm following Paul from Modaco on Twitter, he's mentioned a few things about it, seems good, but I'm not sure that I have a lot of need for a dual-core Cellphone at the moment, though the screen is a "nice to have" to say the least. Apparently the screen is also easier on battery life which would be a bonus!

I didn't wanna go Captivate, saw one once, it just didn't "feel" like me (Stupid reason I know) with its sharp edges. Definitely pleased with the i9000T!
If I were to get a Defy for the wifey, I'd flash it with MIUI prior to giving it to her. It's surprisingly easy to do, at least for the i9000 and the Nexus models :D
