1181258 2011-02-24 23:45:00 I have the same problem on my PC Win7 64 bit, also cannot install IE9 RC.
These are the only things that I have ever had trouble installing and all updates are installed (on a completely legal system FYI). Non of the MS suggested fixes work - so I am really keen to see if you can resolve this issue if poss. Google wasn't a help either...

1181259 2011-02-24 23:52:00 this is a brand new laptop , only about a week or so old.

wonder if any other members have had any issues with installing SP1

1181260 2011-02-25 00:46:00 in addition to the SP1 problem, it runs like a dog, real slow.

firefox freezed, doesnt repsonde for ages, just trying to do anything is a mission.

i removed a couple trojans with malwarebytes, and one with MSEE.

was running fine before the trojans appeared, but since theyve been removed its slow as hell.

starting in safe mode, i cant get windows update to run.

maybe a repair isntall is in order.

1181261 2011-02-25 01:29:00 Mine did the same. I installed the updates it wanted to install first, then install sp1 after, when it was the only thing it wanted to install. It worked for me Phil B (648)
1181262 2011-02-25 02:51:00 Seeing as it is only a week old with lots of problems, wouldn't it be better restoring it from the recovery partition (presuming it has one!)? linw (53)
1181263 2011-02-25 02:53:00 very difficult to get to.

Looks like that error means something maybe corrupt, or theres a prob with the hdd. Could have been one of those trojans that stuffed it

1181265 2011-02-25 03:34:00 Did you disable system restore before you removed these trojans etc? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1181266 2011-02-25 04:44:00 dont think i did.

you reckon there's something still there?

i'll have a look via teamviewer tonight.
