| 1182171 | 2011-02-28 07:38:00 | 1st - a display issue. 2nd - a speed issue. 3rd - opinions needed. 1- laptop's hooked up to my samsung 32" series 5. Display at 1080p res isn't scaled properly when coming from my laptop. I know my laptop correctly outputs 1080p, and I know my tv accepts 1080p. The xbox 360 puts out 1080p fine. But when using the laptop through the same HDMI cable, I get 1080p with a 1cm (slightly more on the left right sides) black dead zone. Other resolutions display alright, as one would expect. 640x480 scales slightly off the edges of the screen, 800x600 is fine without errors. Just wondering, is it likely to be a setting I can change on my laptop, or is it going to be an issue with the tv? 2- I also have been having speed issues with this laptop for a little while now. Since I installed sp1, I've noticed it takes longer to start up than usual. I'm not sure if this is because of windows itself, or because of NIS 2010/11, (shush, i've got a while left before I ditch for eset). Not sure if it's due to sp1, or just me noticing an old problem now, or something else. 3- Wondering what to upgrade first on my laptop. Considering either a 7.2k rpm HDD (currently has 5400rpm) or an extra 2gb stick of ram (currently has 2gb, don't have speed off the top of my head) Not sure which would make the biggest difference, although I'm imagining the ram would be it. Cheers as usual. |

Have a look there . Your TV will have options too . . . Could be anything . 3- Wondering what to upgrade first on my laptop . Cheers as usual . There isn't a big difference between 5400 & 7200 . I would suggest SSD if you can live with a smaller HDD, otherwise more ram . RAM is best bang per buck, but do you have 1 stick or two? Most laptops in recent years come in a dual channel configuration? Is your version of windows 64bit? |
