1181965 2011-02-28 02:16:00 If you have, is it good? Which one did you buy? Did you buy a cover? A light? Any problems with wireless downloading? And any comments you may have. :thanks Richard (739)
1181966 2011-02-28 02:53:00 got one late last year and love it . Have read books for hours on it and eyes don't get tired or sore anymore then a normal book . Initially didn't buy cover and regretted it so much that I forked out for one (plus shipping) so would recommend getting one .

Didnt get a light as I treat it like a book i . e . turn the house lights or bedside lamp on .

Wireless works fine for downloading books etc . Havent tried browsing on it, thats what my computer is for .

Love using it and can highly recommend it .

1181968 2011-02-28 20:53:00 The biggest problem is the restriction on selling ebooks to NZ. It's a right pain to choose a book then be told, "Sorry, you're not on the list of approved countries". Especially galling when you see the list of strange little countries that are on the list!

Same with Google books.

People have schemes where they fudge the fact that they are in NZ. Any good ideas on this?

1181969 2011-02-28 21:58:00 I have one -- first international version.

Thought I would use it since I'm a reasonably heavy duty reader (50-100 books a year average).

...but it turns out that my brain believes all readers should be touchscreen, and as a result, i find I just don't use it.

1181970 2011-02-28 22:08:00 I use my netbook instead, probably not as comfortable or as light. I use the Calibre software as it can work as a reader but can also convert DRM free eBooks from ePub to PDF or vice versa. Its relatively good at what it does gary67 (56)

Interesting. I have wondered if an ebook would be a better alternative to an ereader. Much more versatile.

Not tried either yet and in no hurry. Pulped trees provide all of my needs. :D

1181972 2011-03-01 20:24:00 I was quite keen on one myself but it seems the books I would buy are more expensive than the hardback versions, seems for new releases the publishers want a premium. I also dont like the Idea of being tied to a single overseas supplier. Everything I read about the devices themselves is positive however.

I would reccomend doing some research into the price and availability of whatever it is you would like to read, real books may acctually be cheaper especially when you factor in the cost of the device to begin with.

1181973 2011-03-01 20:29:00 I am hoping the libraries will get on board, how hard can it be to issue an ebook that removes itself from your device after 3 weeks gary67 (56)

Sure, since Amazon manages to do it themselves, deleting books after people buy them...

No way would I purchase something where a company has that much control over what happens to the things I buy.
