1181674 2011-02-27 00:11:00 Hi all,

I would like to setup a file synchronisation system between my home computer (Windows 7) and the work computer (Windows XP). Due to the latter's operating system, this rules out Windows Live Mesh, of which I have found it to be very reliable in the past months.

Does anyone have any experience with other file synchronisation software that you have found it to be useful / reliable?

Cheers :)

1181676 2011-02-27 07:57:00 I've been using Smartsync Pro for years for this purpose and it is very customisable and reliable.

I just checked their website, and it is $US45 for a single user.

1181678 2011-02-27 20:07:00 Dropbox as noted - quite popular, and now includes selective sync (www.labnol.org), and can do a few other tasks... kahawai chaser (3545)
1181679 2011-02-28 08:52:00 The problem with DropBox is that synchronisation only works for folders located within the DropBox folder.

I have got a folder located at C:\Program Files that I need to get its content synchronised.

1181680 2011-02-28 09:08:00 Correct me if I'm wrong. I looked at dropbox the other day & it seems to me that when you share a file/folder with someone else, that someone else can share it with whoever they like, they can do the same & on it goes. That sounds like facebook style privacy to me Phil B (648)
