| 1181820 | 2011-03-06 06:58:00 | The one I tried was a X64 - so may give the X86 a go and see if that actually goes any better. Terry- just courious - 1. Did you actually install Windows 7 after making the DVD to make sure it did actually work.? 2. What was the finished size of the ISO with it slipstreamed - the actual "real" W7 DVD's / ISO with SP1 are Shown Here (www.imagef1.net.nz) - how does that compare to the one you made ? |

I forgot to say that I used RT7 Lite build 2. 6.0 for Windows 7, Vista X86 1. I just booted the slipstreamed DVD to the install/repair window. I didn't go any further. 2. The Home Premium OEM ISO size is 2,443,256kB The SP1 file is 550,718kB The slipstreamed ISO is 2,822,070kB |

| 1181822 | 2011-03-06 08:09:00 | Thanks for those sizes. Seems the slip streamed ISO is bigger than one From MS. The originals are the same (non Sp1) 2,443,256kB When I made My DVD, I tried to install it on a HDD - it got to the point of Wiping the drive, - OK 1st stage - Copy files = OK 2nd stage - Expanding Files = OK 3rd Stage - Installing Features = :yuck: bing bong crash -- Errors left right and center with multi failure warnings. = Failed.:crying |

Maye I can get around that and use a backup SATA. I'll report back if I can do an install. |

| 1181824 | 2011-03-06 18:34:00 | I've now tried various versions of the update - and none of them wanted to do anything (showing the update where you select your Win7 version) so I'm also following this post with interest. There must be other ways to slipstream? sarel |

| 1181825 | 2011-03-06 23:14:00 | I just test installed the slipstreamed DVD on a 'backup' drive and it went ok. Computer-Properties says Service Pack 1 indicating it did actually install SP1. |

| 1181826 | 2011-03-07 00:00:00 | Just curious as to why you have to specify which version of Win7 you want to create the ISO for? Doesn't Win7 include all versions of the OS on the one disc? You just have a different disc for 32-bit and 64-bit versions. |

You just have a different disc for 32-bit and 64-bit versions. That is true, but there is a file ei.cfg which indentifies the disk and determines which install is used. If that file is removed, then the disk becomes "universal". Maybe I should try a making an ISO of a "universal" disk and see what happens. Edit:lifehacker.com |
