| 1182166 | 2011-02-28 21:33:00 | Fristly, Juan Pablo Montoya (www.youtube.com)??? That is one awesome bada*s frackin name! The dude's pretty badass too. I wish I had a name that awesome. :( Secondly, my point was that if you run the CPU with the heatsink on it, thermal paste (or trip) will mold because of the heat from the CPU. It's a good idea, for the longevity of your CPU, to apply re-apply thermal paste every time your CPU and heat sink lose contact, because you might develop air pockets and the contact between the surfaces will not be all that great and you'll lose out on cooling. If you don't want to buy & apply thermal paste that is your call, if it were me I would. But if it's a week to wait, I'd wait a week and get everything in one shot. Why would you bother with the extra work of removing your mobo? Yeah a week or two is hard to bother not waiting for. Still, I'm sure CL would have been happy to donate a squirt of thermal goop if that's a big problem :p Besides, who on PF1 doesn't own a tube of thermal compound?? :D it's like $7 for the good stuff. |
