2010-10-07 00:43:00 | When the payment turns out to be fraudulent, with stolen bank a/c details , the bank will happily just demand the money is refunded , from you. I know of this happening , person took the money (after checking with the bank 1st) then had to pay it all back 1 month later. The banks or some of them have a option where you can deposit the *funds* pending proper clearance, if it turns out to be a fake cheque, nothing lost compared to the normal route of deposit cheque, get cash, 3 months down the track bank finds out from other bank it is a fake a demands refund plus extra from you. Lets put it this way, I wouldn't be sending anything until the bank had confirmed 100% that the cheque had cleared and that takes time. If he is that keen to have your product tell him to send the money via Western Union, though that may not be without risk either.

2010-10-07 01:00:00 | [QUOTE=Digby;955134]I have had a guy from Uganda who want to buy some of my products on my website. He wants to pay by bank transfer. QUOTE] When I had my busiess I had millions of emails from people wanting to buy stuff and who lived in all sorts of countries. When I ran someone elses PC shop we had the same thing. I refused. One other shop apparently did do it, and guess what. They have ways of making the money show initially, then because it can't be cleared for ages, it vanishes again. Forget it.

2010-10-07 01:10:00 | Question: do you really want to give the guy your bank a/c details (for a direct credit??) or try your hand at baiting him. Can be quite funny the lengths they will go to. www.419eater.com www.insolitology.com

2010-10-07 02:57:00 | Thanks for all the advice guys. It seems that many of us are not sure about bank transfers as to whether they are safe or can be reversed. I was more worried about him saying that the goods had not arrived, and then asking for a replacement lot or a refund. Also I was surprised at getting a big order from Uganda. The funny thing was that he found me through Wholesale Brands which is an American wholesale directory that costs $250 to join. Still if you can scam a few people you would soon get that back. He also asked me a few intelligent questions about my product. And I owudl liek tho think that my product is unique. There is one other just come out but it is has a few moving partsin it and is 4 times the price.

There was something on fair go about someone having money direct credited into their account and they overpaid, and wanted them to refund it, which they did . A number of months later the money was reversed, so they lost a lot of money . I believe banks can reverse fraudulent payments up to several years after they are made . |

2010-10-07 21:49:00 | I believe banks can reverse fraudulent payments up to several years after they are made. And legit direct credits can EASILY be reversed the next day, after they show in the retailers a/c My previous dodgy Boss used to do this, pay by direct credit, payment shows so goods get sent, then he gets payment reversed. bad bad bad

2010-10-08 01:50:00 | And legit direct credits can EASILY be reversed the next day, Really? How? Whenever I've asked the bank they say it can't, or if it's within their own bank, they want loads of money to do it.
