1142241 2010-10-07 00:36:00 I'm with DeSade and wratterus too. I've used Truecrypt, and if you've looked into encryption, then provided you use a decent key, there is *no* way they're gonna find your data. It honestly boggles my mind just how tough encryption can be! Chilling_Silence (9)
1142242 2010-10-07 01:58:00 No one will ever get my encryption keys, its encrypted for a reason and my privacy is worth the cost, big brother can get F&#ked.

I say good on them, take the hit, protect civil liberties.

Read it properly
He was suspected but they never actually proved it, he could be completely innocent.

If he was innocent then why wouldn't he let them look?

An innocent man never runs or hides.

I am perfectly innocent and I would still say NO, so would Chill by the sounds of it.

Have fun in prison then. Really, if they brought up the prison sentence wouldn't you just say "awww fine, have a look then?".

1142245 2010-10-07 02:57:00 A slightly more concerning application of the same law (kiddie porno's deserve what they get)...

No I would not just bend over and take it.
I thought I was clear on that.

So how else will you prove you don't have kiddy porn on your computer? A person who is accused of such a crime and then won't let anyone view his computer looks very suspisious. If you didn't let them look and you were imprisoned then you will have that on your record for the rest of your life. You will always have that "accused of kiddy porn" hanging over your head.

All on principal??? No, you're not "standing up to the man" you're just being retarded.
xyz823 (13649)
1142248 2010-10-07 03:38:00 Actually if they cannot prove a charge they cannot prosecute the charge so there is no accused of anything on your record.

You are charged with failing to supply the key, that is all and to me that is worth the time.
No one gets access to my data.

BTW the onus is on the prosecution to prove guilt, not the accused to prove innocence.

Really? Four months in prison? Also, can they charge him again once he is out?

No one gets access to my data.

Sh*t. That doesn't look guilty at all!!

Also, you will always have that "did he or didn't he" over your head. Say you go for a job interview and the employer runs a quick background check, they can instantly see that you "may" have been guilty of having kiddy porn, and the fact that you wouldn't let them prove your innocence shows that you are probably guilty.

Have fun never being able to get a decent job ever again.

Of course!
If you've done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear, right?

So what is your answer when there is a knock on the door and an officer saying "We've come to search your house to see if we can find anything on you. We don't need a warrant or suspicion of anything, it's an offence to refuse, don't you know?"
