2010-10-12 04:28:00 | Hoping someone can help. Got home tonight and found a Bailiff notice on my door. Apparently November last Year I received a $80 speeding fine presumably a speeding Camera. We purchased a new house and moved prior to the infringement in October and have never received a notification. The nice lady on the phone confirmed the notices were sent to the "old" address. My wife "believes" she filled out a change of address with the Post Office but not even sure if there is legal relevance. Obviously I am up for the $80 speeding fine and probably fair, but what about the extra costs?

2010-10-12 07:40:00 | Well popping into courts tomorrow morning to see what they have to say with proof I moved. Just a little shocked it could get to a point of recovering the debt with personel possessions and obviously not knowing for sure If I even know about it. Actually My wife had a speeding ticket 6 months ago and that one made it here to the "correct" address. We have a extremely uncommon last name so these guys are no super sleuths!. Could be worse, was reading cases of Bank of America Foreclosing on houses with no mortgages by mistake, suppose it could be worse :P

It seems they got onto you, but how about the hoons on Road Cops, and Motorway patrol that just say put on my tab and they rack up mega fines? If you write in about the change of address I reckon they would have to chop the penalties. |

2010-10-12 11:30:00 | If you go to the NZTA web site you can change the address online. You are legally obliged to change the address within 7 days of moving. | Snorkbox (15764) | |
2010-10-12 18:23:00 | Theres the thing most people do not Think about the legal ramifications of such a simple procedure of moving house. If I remember correctly it does state on that form from the post office that they redirect your mail for set period but it is your responsibility notify those agencies. Incidentally changing your Driving Licence address is completly seperate from any vehicles you own even though same goverment department :annoyed: Talking of legal responsibility and driving! How many of you carry your driving licence with you at all times?
