1142654 2010-10-10 07:46:00 Meh. That is the least of my worries. I actually caught fleas (and infested my house!!) from one computer I was fixing for a friend that I decided to 'dust' when the cover was off. Seriously. I had to flea bomb the entire house afterward.

Rule #1 - clean computers outside.
You saying that reminds me of the time I was painting the inside of a house that hadn't been lived in for a little while and when I was down painting the skirting I happened to notice the fleas hopping around all over the place and the next morning got back and the skirting's were partly black from all the fleas sticking to them. My stomping around the house had awakened the little buggers.

I have used one but have found a brush and a good blow from me does a similar job with the only downside being the revolting taste of the dust. Definitely going to get a compressor soon.

Flea eggs can lay dormant for months. Vibrations from walking around makes them hatch. Useless info for the day :)

1142659 2010-10-12 20:13:00 x2 thats to remove built up dust etc, if theres any more stubborn grit, a paintbrush as well, then blow out the crap.

As SJ pointed out, dont let the cooling fans rev up.

Mind you - I have on old fans that are going to be dumped / replaced -- they really spin up fast :devil

Just a hint, do it out side if you can - and watch where the dust/crap goes, meaning theres usually only one way -- back out at you - real nice getting a face full of dust :yuck: Dont forget to blow out the front intake area, some people forget.

Ive never had a fan fail because of a spin up with compressed air....I spin them for the very reason to blow the dust from them, as long as you dont do it for ages its fine.....

Yes, it's far toooo expensive but compressed air(if you have an air compressor) blows out the dust really well especially those hard to reach areas with a paint brush.

Is there such a thing as a mini air compressor for domestic use?

Super cheap autos sell mini (very small) compressors.
I bought a normal compressor (with air tank) + accessories for less than $200.
el cheapo, but it does the job.
