1143594 2010-10-11 21:15:00 It is comforting to see that no current members of parliament are on anyone's list.

It is disturbing however to see that there are a couple of NZ TV personalities, The cult of the manufactured celebrity.

Surely someone can think of some New Zealander who selflessly contributed to the betterment of life for hs fellow citizens, putting his/her social contribution ahead of creating personal benefit and wealth.

Most of the Kiwis I personaly hold in very high regard are unfortunately dead. (eg Sir Edmund Hilliary)

1143600 2010-10-11 22:28:00 1. Jim Bolger
I have met him a few times and respect him, I don't like many of his policy decisions, but I respect him as a person.

2. Sir Edmund Hillary
never met the guy but he seems like a very down to earth guy.

3. Sir Howard Morrison
you have to respect that the dude can sing.

4. John Britten
I respect any one who does stuff better and cheaper then the big boys.

5. Stephen Fleming
another one that I have met, very good leader.

1143601 2010-10-11 23:27:00 Hmm.. Now lets see..

I have a lot of respect for Tim Shadbolt. He's like an amiable nuclear explosion wrapped in skin. I could never figure out why Whangarei more or less booted him out. Look what he has done for Invers.

Public figure No.2 - Renee the weather girl. Thats one nice public figure..

But the public figure I have the most respect for is the 50km sign just as you get into Tikipunga. Thats mostly because there is usually a rabid policeman just behind it, with an extremely itchy ticket-writing hand.

Sorry for the play on the variations of the English language. :) Couldn't help myself.

You know, I was going to say Tim....I think he's a genuine bloke!

1143602 2010-10-11 23:43:00 Well, this is a hard one but I’ll go:

1: John Minto – for his tireless efforts to make South Africa what it is today.

2: Hone Harawira - for his love and understanding of white people.

3: Al Gore – for his demonstration of honesty in all his business dealings.

:devil
