| 1183791 | 2011-03-05 21:18:00 | Sometime ago I was advised to remove an obstinate programme from the registry after the specific removal tool (Nortons) failed to accomplish the task. Can someone please advise the steps i need to take to accomplish this purging of the registry? Thanks in anticipation  | smurf (6545) | ||

| 1183795 | 2011-03-05 22:29:00 | Search the registry for it, manually delete every instance of that particular thing. That sums it up perfectly. Can be a long process, as there can be many entries. Open the Reg, click Edit / find - type in the word(s) you are searching for, Eg: Norton or Symantec click Find next -- LOOK at what it finds as it may not always be exactly what you want, then delete if its correct, then press F3 and it will carry on searching. Just a bit of advice -- make a restore point BEFORE touching anything in the registry - "if" you delete the wrong things, it can really ruin your day when the PC wont start afterwards ;) |
