| 1183021 | 2011-03-02 14:28:00 | Hey guys, I own a Geforce 8800GTS 640MB card and was wondering how hot is too hot . I downloaded speedfan to monitor my temp and while playing the new crysis demo the temp went up to 99C . My resting temp is around 70C Is this too hot for my GPU? I have increased the fan to max speed . Would this still leave my card in the danger zone? Cheers . |

| 1183022 | 2011-03-02 17:31:00 | www.tomshardware.com this might be of use. GPU's can get quite hot, especially with very intense games like crysis. You might want to look into a newer card if you're finding it a bit too hot or slow, or some additional fans in your case. |

| 1183023 | 2011-03-02 20:41:00 | In a word, Yes. the 640MB 8800GTS was the G80 core, so I'd suggest you want to look at around 75*C as your load tempt, and somewhere under 60*C for idle. That said, I believe the actual thermal ceiling for the core is about 108*C. |

| 1183024 | 2011-03-02 21:57:00 | My 8600GT reached 99 degrees only on Furmark, and it has a passive cooler (no fan) In crysis it would reach about 76 or so. Obviously the 8800GTS is a faster card but maybe your case has bad airflow or something... |

| 1183027 | 2011-03-03 00:31:00 | 145*C may well be the maximum temperature the core can handle, but I would suggest getting anywhere near that will cause instability & crashes and reduce the life of the component. I'd really look to lower that load temp if possible, even by just 10*C. | inphinity (7274) | ||
| 1183028 | 2011-03-03 07:22:00 | 99 degrees for a G80 is definitely not a temp you should see under normal conditions, even though the G80 is a hot chip. I would say it must be because of dust build up in the heatsink which you could blow or suck away using a blower or a vacuum respectively lol. |
