| 1184628 | 2011-03-09 04:26:00 | I have just purchased a second hand Pioneer DVR-520H-S Recorder. I normally receive TV via a satellite STB which is connected to a Samsung LCD TV. Input from the dish is via cable to the STB and then Scart cables to the TV. There is another Scart output on the STB that indicates VCR connectibility (the recorder could connect here I presume). The recorder could then be connected to the TV. In some diagrams I've seen, there is also a coax (aerial) cable running from the STB to the recorder. Is this necessary? I understand that the satellite receives digital signals and the STB converts to analogue and that the recorder with it's in-built tuner would not be able to process direct from the satellite. If I wish to record one channel (receiving via the STB and recording on the Pioneer) and viewing another channel (viewing via the STB to TV), What should be the connection setup? |

You could get another SCART-3xRCA cable to connect the STB to the Pioneer but it may be cheaper, if the STB has 3xRCA output, to just use a normal 3xRCA-3xRCA cable. You don't really need the coax cable from the STB to the Pioneer as this will give a poorer picture quality. |

Does your satellite box support tuning multiple channels simultaneously? Most non-DVR boxes don't - if yours doesn't support this, then you'll need to purchase a new satellite receiver before you can achieve what you're after. Can you provide the model of your current satellite receiver please? |
