It's for the OS drive and I did read some stories about certain cloning software produced some unbootable drives, that's why I want to play safe. I also read some where that cloning onto a SSD might cause all cells to be written to, including empty cells, which might lead to performance issues? Will a partition copy be better than sector by sector copy? :pf1mobmini: |

| 1184169 | 2011-03-08 02:27:00 | Yes, partition copy should only write those sectors which have data, empty sectors will be ignored. Pre-Win7 software might screw up the Win7 bootloader, it's possible. A full sector clone using such program as dd would ensure that everything worked but then you would be writing some sectors unnecessarily, however doing it once should hardly shorten the lifespan by a considerable degree I'd think. |
