1145826 2010-10-18 03:25:00 My Google homepage has a few items on the bar - one of them is 'Latest Headlines' - which is all well n' good - but it's also all UK news.

Now I like to read about the UK - but how can I change to the US News sources from the UK ones on Google?

1145827 2010-10-18 06:10:00 On the left below Google News do you see a drop down giving you a list of country news services and is your regional setting US rather than UK?? They're next to each other on the list paulw (1826)
1145828 2010-10-18 14:58:00 Nope - all I get it the option to open all the links in tabs or open "Latest Headlines'.

Then I go straight to BBC News.

1145829 2010-10-18 19:21:00 The only other reason could be that Google thinks your IP address is from the UK not the US.. paulw (1826)
1145830 2010-10-18 20:13:00 May I suggest:

english.aljazeera.net

1145831 2010-10-18 20:16:00 You should have this page in Google with a pull down menu in the upper left of the page alongside "Tops Stories" (this page is set to New Zealand) . Yours probably shows UK at the moment, but you should be able to select US .

Works OK for me, and I've tried changing this setting to UK, US, and back to NZ without problems .

May be worth leaving your screen on UK at the moment, you'll get a non-insular and broader coverage of what's going on in the rest of the world :devil

1145832 2010-10-19 02:50:00 I see now . We is talking apples and kiwi fruit .

The news page that you refer too is all OK with me and I get US news there - but that's not the one about which I need some resetting .

When you load Google for the first time, you get the "Getting Started" and your GMail icon if you already have GMail installed - and one of the things that is also there is an icon and words that say: "Latest Headlines" .

THAT'S the one I want to change .

If you click on it you get about 30-40 news stories that are relevant to some default area, and I get Merrie Olde England .

Now - I don't dislike the news items - but let me tell you a few of them:::

I agree . It speaks of Fleet Street at its tackiest worst .

In Post #6, thumbnail, you should find "New Zealand" at the top of the left hand column . Under this you'll see headings I've selected and saved as my menu - Started, World, New Zealand etc .

On the right hand side, click "Edit this Page", and you'll be able to make whatever configuration you want for your own individual menu (add/delete a section) . You should now be home and hosed so to speak .

 Hope this helps .
