| 1144146 | 2010-10-12 22:40:00 | Ok, i got an ex work IBM laptop (old thinkpad one from 2005 I think) which is running xp pro. The IT guys gave me an admin password etc to do what ever I wanted, but it in fact has not got full rights to do much. So thee questions: 1. I want to just do a full reinstall of win xp pro, will I encounter any issues with not having the administrator password? 2. Is there cheap xp pro disc or is it standard pricing everywhere? |

It probably has group policy restrictions in place.....wipe and do a clean install! |

Talk to someone who sells ex-lease computers (ie on trademe), they have loads of unused xp COA's, and they might even give you one for free, dont pay more than $10 or $20 for one though; then you can just copy or download an xp disc and use the legit COA. |
