1144822 2010-10-16 09:48:00 I have absolutely no doubt.

Hows the job situation working out?

1144823 2010-10-16 10:09:00 They have indicated my role will finish with the contract, which is all they offered me to start with, still, I had hoped I could impress them to the point that the position would be made permanent.

It has been an incredibly challenging few months, almost off the scale, I have been blind-sided more then once, had my reputation and work sabotaged, had to deal with multiple work teams, the worst attitudes and work ethics I have ever encountered, shoddy work, rubbish gear, miserable morale, weeks of rain and miserable weather, thousands of pedestrians, upset shop owners, council engineers, project managers, surveyors, a dozen sub-contractors,traffic control, buses, live gas lines, 11KV power cables, city link high capacity network cables, water lines, concrete, greenies....and the council monitors us every minute of the day on a wall of screens.,....... still, the amount of heads that have rolled around me has been hard to fathom and I'm still there.

Not for long though, not for long.

1144824 2010-10-16 10:13:00 Come spend a day with me, the stress I'm under will have you in tears before lunchtime.

Strolling up though the Southerlies in Wgton was always a pain compared to scraping frost off fences in Wanganui and chucking the frost at the local school bullies.

Just read the above. Oh dear. Will the new local council improve matters?

1144825 2010-10-16 10:15:00 Car ran out of gas on the way home, 20 min walk to petrol station not a good finish to the day. GRRRR! TickTech (15391)
1144826 2010-10-16 10:20:00 You think that's bad? At my old place, if I couldn't bum a ride off of anyone (more often than not) I had a lovely 2-hour walk home.

No sidewalks, only mud and overgrown grass.

Not many people pick up back-country hitch-hikers for some reason...

No sidewalks, only mud and overgrown grass .

Not many people pick up back-country hitch-hikers for some reason . . .

Especially if you're carrying your pet goat .

But today is a new day and the coddled eggs were perfect, the coffee hot and smoldering with great pirouetting spirals of heady aroma and deeply-steeped flavor . The toasted muffin was perfection in a bread product and the freshly churned butter from a neighbor (and his cow) shimmered and twisted itself all through the nooks and crannies, only to explode in gustatory Nirvana on my ecstatic taste buds .

The early morning howling of the coyotes had awakened me with the cacophony of their kill-yelps, as some woodland animal met it's fate, filling the bellies of their pups .

Aha! Life is sweet!

Well maybe it's not an entirely bad thing it's ending then. Sounds horrible.

And at least it's more to add to the CV - that's how I'm looking at my contract - a bit more recent experience to add, if nothing else.

1144829 2010-10-16 19:00:00 Currently going up the wall because of mornic customers at work . We serve flat whites in two sizes, and if they don't specify, we must ask .

I ask, do you want that large or small, they say yes, or medium . At which point I pull both sizes of cup off the coffee machine and show them 'these are our two sizes', they then promptly **** around umming and ahhing .

Try this solution: When they order, show them the large cup and say "This size OK?"

Don't give them a choice .

Just to loosen people up a bit before Billy_T does his usual epic tomorrow : -
