For proper after sales service and a proper WARRANTY go to either Computerlounge or Playtech.

These TM guys can't even get the specs right - 12Ghz CPU my ass.
Don't buy a computer from someone who is dumb enough to times cpu speed by amount of cores.

That is a very good system but imo it is an overkill for your stated needs. You can reduce the price by eliminating the video card and using onboard graphics (I assume the mb has that), also by using a cheaper cpu, and perhaps you can transfer your optical drive from your old pc. Computer Lounge is a top company and you can be assured of quality components and excellent service. Phone them and say you are interested in the system in icow's link, tell them your needs (not for gaming, etc.) and ask if they can make a few changes to bring the price down. BTW, the Trademe pc's do 'look' good and may in fact be perfect for your needs and wallet, but you are taking a chance with possible cheap components and dodgy service.

1184855 2011-03-10 18:38:00 By contrast, look at this: www.edencomputers.co.nz

I cannot recall if Eden Computers is recommended by PF1ers, but you will see that the price is very low and the components look 'OK' except for the low powered ps. However for another $100 - $200 you could get an even better system and still be in your price range. I had a look at PriceSpy and a couple of other pc companies but could not find what I was looking for: A store where you can customize your pc by choosing components (such as with Dell Computers). No doubt someone will tell you a shop that will customize a pc for you. Computer Lounge probably will do this.

The only problem I could see with that is that your getting the psu that came with the case, and it's coolermaster and I have recently been told by pctek that coolermaster has a history making overrated psu's.

+1 to the bit about trademe being a gamble.
I have a friend who brought a pc off tbt2.
Specs:
Intel Quad Core Extreme @ 2.66ghz
nVidia Geforce 9800GTX
4gb DDR3
1tb HDD
DVD-RW

To start with the psu was a no brand 320w or 390w, i was surprised that it could even run the 9800GTX. Cheaparse mobo brand, cheap RAM, Cheap HDD and cheap CD drive.

On top of that the 9800GTX was the very bottom of the pile version of the card.

Don't buy from Tm unless you know what every single component is.

Go to PriceSpy and look at the user comments for each company. This way you can avoid the one's with poor service.

Did you phone Computer Lounge and ask if they can customize a pc for you?

1184859 2011-03-12 10:46:00 You can go to any computer shop and they will modify their advertised models or even make one up to your own specs if you wish. This is what makes them different from the Name Brand models sold by the Name Brand stores. I have only come across one shop that refused to take my money because I wanted to pay them MORE to upgrade a graphics card on one of their advertised models. Somehow I don't deal with them anymore! 1184860 2011-03-12 10:49:00 Check out Ascent. They are good for parts but they don't build. You could get some person to put it together for you maybe. Snorkbox (15764)
