| 1144333 | 2010-10-13 20:34:00 | Do you seriously expect us to sympathise KD after all the other treats you have been having? Not really, no. :D But it is funny the things you miss. Off to Venice in the morning. Poor little me! :D |

| 1144334 | 2010-10-13 20:35:00 | I bet if you sent me a barrel of it, I'd last for several generations in my home. Since it won't spoil from being unrefrigerated, I imagine it should be all right even in direct sunshine. Get over it, it's just yeast. You know there's a disease you can get from a lack of niacin - found in yeast and yeast extracts. Rather a nasty one. There are variations anyway, marmite, vegemite, Bovril. Or for the fussy - bread. |

I'm a "happy little Vegemite", too, in fact I've just had a morning snack of toast and vegemite.... :D Went off Marmite big time when I lived in London in the late seventies. The UK version was a sort of translucent mess. Billy Connolly would have said something about a cat with diarrhea. :yuck: :yuck: SJ: Give Vegemite a try. Mate of mine in Atlanta imports the stuff for ex-pat Aussies Vegemite (http://aussiecatalog.com/) :D |

Mate of mine in Atlanta imports the stuff for ex-pat Aussies Vegemite (http://aussiecatalog . com/) :D I actually have used Bovril for years - at least when I lived in New York and New Jersey . My grandmother broke me into it in a tea she made all the time and I grew to like it . I understand that Bovril is no longer made with assorted (and otherwise unsaleable) cow parts, but since the cow fever-thingy whatever it was - MAD COW I think - it's now a vegetable product . I got some Vegemite and Marmite in a C . A . R . E . package from someone in NZ about a year ago . :thanks They still sit in the cupboard, mostly safe from me and my wife . We tried the Vegemite in the squeeze tube and then opened the Marmite in a jar - but they are safe in the refrigerator now . Prolly be safely there until - well, I dunnow! |
