1146503 2010-10-20 19:00:00 I wonder if there's any way to get some of the iPad files to be readable on - say, a PC?

They can be downloaded for a fee, but then are they capable of being sent to a Eee/PC Netbook or Palm?

I'm sure that if I pay for them, the media upon which I wish to view them is my choice .

Yeah - SurferJoe still uses his Palm Cliè .

Dunno, I've read a lot on teh interwebs about when you transfer files from your ipad to your pc it screws them up tho.

One in particular is WIRED - the US Edition.

Wait - you said: 'it screws them up'. Does that mean you screw up your PC or the rendering of the files themselves?

I'd like to be able to take it with me to my VA/Doctor's appointments and read them there. Eee/PC or Palm - it doesn't matter, but the battery life on the Eee/PC is yards (NZ= sillimeters) longer.

As a sidebar: the WIRED font is -1, and without glasses, it's kinda hard to read in the printed form. I feel I might be able to increase the font points a few and make it easier on my olde eyes.

FYI: I subscribe to both the printed and online of WIRED anyway.

1146508 2010-10-20 20:04:00 For the better part, almost anything you can read / do on your iOS device, you can read it on your windows desktop, with the exception of iLife files. For those, you need a Mac. Chilling_Silence (9)

It's an APP - I think anyway.

Well it is an Apple app for Macs so if you haven't got one you might as well stay away.
