1146562 2010-10-27 18:28:00 Lets hope the union people die of something.

Why the hell do we have a SIS arent they supposed to take care of subversive people in NZ?

1146563 2010-10-27 18:40:00 From what media coverage there has been, it sounds like all the law change is going to do is say if you are hired as a contractor, then you can't then take the employer to court later on claiming you're an employee.

Hope it's as simple as that.

Mad that common sense has to be legislated....

1146565 2010-10-27 18:57:00 but didn't they say it was a law just with the film industry?

if it was thru out all industries, all contractors then i could understand .

1146566 2010-10-27 19:06:00 Knowing Hollywood, someone will make a movie of Warner Bro coming to NZ to make a movie deal over the making of a couple of movies. :) wainuitech (129)

SIS is intelligence, they'll just find out about these people, it's the SAS who takes care of them.

All the union has done is shoot itself in the foot, big time.

Just goes to show again that a few people can ruin it for everyone.

1146569 2010-10-27 22:37:00 I was listening to Radio Live last night and heard some idiot trying to say that Peter Jackson started the fight because he did not respond to the Aussie union's request to negotiate!!!! Not sure how you can "start a fight" by doing nothing....

The Aussie union represents a very small minority of NZ actors (and actors are a tiny minority of all workers on a movie), and to bring out the "boycott hammer" as your first trick out of the bag smacks of desperation and grand-standing.

Can we make the Aussie unionist 'persona non grata (en.wikipedia.org)' and refuse him entry into New Zealand? Or should we just ignore the twit and hopes he crawls back into the trapdoor spider tunnel he crawled out of?

EDIT: Just read the Patrick Gower story. On the button. (Anyone else notice that he looks like a hobbit?)

1146570 2010-10-27 23:06:00 It might of been brought by the unions .

The questions I have is what happens to other business investors? Do they get the same treatment and what's going to stop these large corportations demanding more incentives in the future?

I agree that NZ had to make this deal, they have heaps to gain but what happens if they weren't that big .

I thought it was the secret service who arranges accidents for traitors and subversive people.
